Finding my “inner geek”
Posted By Donna Fisher on March 15, 2011
I recall a time when a felt fairly computer savvy – at least sufficiently savvy to get by. However, now with every day that goes by I have felt like I was getting farther and farther behind the computer curve.
I get emails daily about various new internet programs/services for posting videos, conducting webinars, video conferencing, etc. etc. Who’s to know? What to do?
Then I was on a call with Jay Kraker and Lissa Ingram talking about some Power Networking project ideas. First we were on Omnovia and talking about Maestro then they chose for us to converse via Skype (which I had downloaded years ago and yet hadn’t used it).
I mentioned that I had so much to learn about all the technology and then Jay mentioned how Lissa helps people “find their inner geek”! I said I was willing if she was willing. So we started my “inner geek journey” with a lesson on Skype and me agreeing to get my blog going again.
So, I’ve been skyping and loving it. It certainly adds a nice connection element when you have cameras and can see the person you are talking with. So now I am looking to get more of my friends on Skype!!
Then yesterday, Skype made some changes to their site . . . so after one week I got another lesson from Jay and Lissa on some of the new features. And we had a three-way Skype call with all three of us on the screen at the same time (4 of us if you count my kitty who stopped by for a bit!)
I have only just begun and I know I would be totally lost without my guide, Lissa! I’ll be sharing my journey here, so you’re welcome to follow along and learn with me.
For starters, if you’re not on Skype, go to skype.com and download, search for friends, make some calls, click on video if you have a webcam and have fun.
